Responsibilities
  • Direct, coordinate, and participate in the care of a designated group of patients, managing patient care problems according to pre-established protocols.
  • Obtain and document patient health history, perform and document physical examinations, and write prescriptions as necessary.
  • Provide preventative health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of the Medical Director or assigned physician.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory work, x-rays, and EKGs.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of case management protocols for high-risk/high-volume clients to achieve cost-effective and quality care objectives.
  • Review caseload with physician colleagues on a regular basis to ensure collaboration and adherence to protocols.
  • Order, evaluate, and follow-up diagnostic tests according to established protocols.
  • Documentation meets all standards and policies, including all findings, interventions, and results.
  • Instruct and counsel individuals and/or families or groups about health or defined health problems, participating in formal patient education programs and designing, implementing, and evaluating patient health teaching education plans.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations as necessary according to agency policies and procedures.
  • Manage and establish treatment plans for benign gynecological diseases and low-risk obstetrical patients.
  • Utilize community resources in planning appropriate patient care and act as a liaison by relaying information necessary for coordination of care.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program with certification.
  • 3 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply clinical science to practice.
  • Expertise in implementing the clinical process to meet patient care needs.
  • Knowledge and skills in implementing complex clinical procedures under supervision.
  • Analytical ability to identify clinical problems, formulate, and implement a plan of action.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and skills in conducting educational sessions.
  • Flexibility to work at assigned Medical Centers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience in childbirth education and lactation consultation.
  • Expertise in Adolescent Health.
  • Able to function interdependently as well as independently.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to treat staff, patients, and families with respect and dignity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to maintain a harmonious working environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
Specialized Training and/or Certification/License
  • Valid State of Michigan Registered Nurse License.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification.
  • Current BCLS or CPR Certification and ACLS Certification.
  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
