Job Overview

Position Summary

The Parenting Education Program offers essential in-home support to families in need, specifically those referred by local child welfare services. This initiative aims to avert instances of abuse, neglect, and potential separation of children from their families. Families may be mandated by the court to participate in this program.

Program Objectives

The program is designed to provide educational resources tailored to the unique challenges faced by each family, addressing key areas such as developmental milestones, safety protocols, emotional bonding, effective communication, and establishing boundaries. The overarching goal is to empower parents by enhancing their existing strengths and equipping them with knowledge and skills that foster healthy family dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by Catholic Social Services and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with contract providers and community organizations.
  • Deliver comprehensive case management services, focusing on in-home parenting education and essential life skills to mitigate risks of abuse and neglect.
  • Gather pertinent information from child welfare services to identify and address parenting-related concerns.
  • Collaborate effectively with various social service agencies, the judicial system, and child welfare representatives to meet client needs and facilitate resource utilization.
  • Engage in regular supervisory meetings to discuss case progress and program developments.
  • Complete all required documentation in a professional and timely manner for review by supervisory staff.
  • Participate in annual performance evaluations to assess job effectiveness.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related discipline.
  • A valid driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Clearances from PA State Police, ChildLine, and FBI prior to employment.
  • Completion of VIRTUS training provided by the employer.
  • Any additional training necessary to fulfill program documentation requirements.
