Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join our team in San Diego. As a key member of our construction management team, you'll be responsible for overseeing the construction process, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts and maintain client relationships in the area of responsibility.
  • Manage schedules, staffing, and budgets for multiple clients/projects.
  • Participate in business planning for the region.
  • Participate in applicable professional organizations and events.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing staff to develop winning proposals.
  • Work collaboratively with accounting staff to manage timely invoicing and payment.
  • Oversee and manage training needs for staff.
  • Support clients in making significant and final determinations regarding contract administration.
  • Manage field inspection of contractor installations on behalf of TRC clients, while maintaining constructive relationships with the contractor and client.
  • Project safety:
    • Conduct/attend bi-weekly safety meetings.
    • Oversee and monitor the safety of TRC personnel.
    • Monitor and report on the contractor's safety program.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years' resident engineer experience on heavy civil construction projects is desired.
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • Ability to work independently, make effective decisions concerning construction work in progress, and solve field problems.
  • Certified as a Qualified SWPPP Developer or Practitioner is desired.
  • A thorough understanding of Cal-OSHA practices and procedures.
  • A thorough understanding of American with Disability Act (ADA) and Caltrans ADA requirements.
  • A thorough understanding of field methods, practices, and construction office procedures.

Compensation:

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
