Position Overview:

This role involves providing essential support and services to individuals affected by crime. After completing the necessary training, volunteers will be contacted on an as-needed basis to offer intervention, resources, and emotional support to those impacted by criminal activities. A thorough understanding of the challenges faced by crime victims, along with effective intervention strategies and resource referrals, is crucial for this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist victims or witnesses of crime by offering comfort and guidance.
  • Utilize discretion and sound judgment when addressing specific case circumstances.
  • Adhere to established protocols and procedures while selecting appropriate resources to meet the immediate needs of victims.
  • Work under the supervision of designated coordinators to ensure compliance with departmental standards.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and be at least twenty-one (21) years old.
  • Valid Driver's License is required; an Arizona Driver's License is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and proof of current auto insurance are mandatory.
  • Completion of the required training course is essential.
  • Successful completion of background checks and interviews is necessary.

Commitment Expectations:
  • This is an unpaid volunteer position requiring a commitment of at least 16 hours per month.
  • Volunteers are expected to serve for a minimum of one year.
  • Participation in ongoing training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Volunteers must be available on-call to respond to the needs of crime victims.

  • This position is voluntary and not compensated.
  • Volunteers serve at the discretion of the appointing authority and may be released from their duties at any time.
