Job Title: ESL Instructor

Kirkwood Community College is seeking a qualified ESL Instructor to join our team. As an ESL Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language courses to students enrolled in our secondary programs.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the program director, the ESL Instructor will be responsible for:

  • Teaching ESL courses to students in a face-to-face setting in Coralville, with opportunities to teach in Cedar Rapids or online in the future.
  • Assisting students in transitioning from ESL courses to Kirkwood-related work training and higher education opportunities in collaboration with other Kirkwood staff.
  • Tracking attendance and submitting reports.
  • Responding to communications and requests from the program director and coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Participating in weekly team meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Prior experience teaching adult ESL/ABE learners or working with adult immigrants is preferred.
  • Prior experience teaching ESL or foreign language at any age is also preferred.
