Join Our Team as a Flight Controls Engineer Intern

At Regent Services, we're revolutionizing coastal transportation with our innovative seaglider technology. As a Flight Controls Engineer Intern, you'll play a crucial role in developing and implementing control law algorithms for our all-electric, wing-in-ground effect craft.

About the Role

We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. As a Flight Controls Engineer Intern, you'll work closely with our experienced engineers to design, develop, and test control systems for our seagliders. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing control law algorithms for our seagliders
  • Collaborating with our aero, hydro, and mechanical engineers to design control surfaces and systems
  • Working with our systems engineers to develop requirements and test engineers to create verification and validation procedures
  • Utilizing high-fidelity simulations and live-flight testing to validate and verify control systems
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline with a focus on controls
  • Passion for aviation, aerospace, electrical, and/or nautical vehicle design and development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of fundamentals - engineering math, dynamics, numeric methods
  • Algorithm development in MATLAB/Simulink
  • C/C++ Embedded software development experience
Desired Skills

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Research or technical project experience in complex, nonlinear flight control design methods
  • Courses in Classical and/or Modern Control Theory
  • Experience in one or more disciplines related to GNC: 6-DOF models, flight simulations, control system analysis, sensor fusion, and state estimation
  • Flight test or sea trials experience
