Job Title: Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant

About the Role:

The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other samples, processing specimens, and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and process blood and other samples for laboratory testing
  • Obtain and understand specimen and test information
  • Document physician orders and maintain accurate records
  • Retrieve orders, requisitions, and labels from the electronic medical record (EMR) for accurate collection and labeling of specimens
  • Prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory
  • Perform point-of-care testing for CLIA-waived tests
  • Provide patient results to physician offices as needed
  • Field patient phone calls and messages and liaise between patients, providers, and other patient care facilities
  • Assist with clerical duties such as answering phones, preparing charts, and charge entry
  • Obtain vital signs, weight checks, and general patient-comfort needs
  • Record medications, allergies, and other medical history
  • Refill medications, obtain prior authorizations, scan and copy medical records, route referrals, and perform other patient care management tasks as assigned
  • Transport patients and assist staff with moving patients with wheelchairs
  • Restock rooms and supply areas as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED or completed a Phlebotomy Program
  • Previous experience as a phlebotomist

Work Hours:

Typically, Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. However, hours may vary with advanced notice depending on work load and need for office coverage.
