About the Role

The CCS Companies, a leading provider of Business Process Outsourcing services, is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Portsmouth, NH. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our Linux servers and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Server Administration: Install, configure, and maintain dedicated RHEL Linux servers for the organization.
  • Database Management: Manage, monitor, and maintain associated databases and storage infrastructure.
  • System Updates and Security: Perform regular system updates and security patches to ensure optimal performance of the Linux servers and associated infrastructure.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work directly with DevOps on critical tasks, optimizing, monitoring, supporting, and developing system features beneficial to the organization.
  • Backup and Recovery: Manage and maintain system backups, upgrades, DR exercises, migration, and failover scenarios.
  • Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Scripting and Automation: Create and maintain scripts for automating system tasks using Bash, Python, etc.
  • Security and Compliance: Develop, recommend, and enforce security protocols and policies to protect the systems.
  • Security Audits and Vulnerability Assessments: Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of the servers and associated infrastructure.
  • Incident Response: Respond to security incidents and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies. Provide regular reports on system performance and security.
  • IT Policy Development: Assist in developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to system users and IT staff.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Requirements
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in a Linux System Administration role or relevant Linux System environment.
  • Linux Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of Linux OS (RHEL), including Kernel.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications in RHCE, LPIC – 2/3 preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with VMWare, cloud platforms (AWS) and database administration/support in Oracle and/or PostgreSQL preferred. Proficient with scripting languages including Bash, Python, etc.
  • Networking and Security: Knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, firewalling, and encrypted IP communications.
  • Communication and Documentation: Ability to communicate effectively and accurately document related tasks.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently and within a team structure.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technology-focused degree preferred. Relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
