Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled GNC Engineer II - Mission Formulation to join our team in Denver, CO. As a key member of our Global Launch Services (GLS) Mission Formulation Team, you'll be responsible for Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) design, modeling, analyses, and testing for Rocket Lab launches and missions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct trade studies, preliminary and final mission analyses, and definition and implementation of detailed designs for Rocket Lab launch programs.
  • Work closely with other Engineering teams and Production to bring new launch and mission concepts to life.
  • Develop and support release of flight code for pre-launch ground testing, launch, and mission operations.
  • Conduct flight safety analyses prior to launch and provide related day-of-launch support.
  • Verify readiness of AFTS (Autonomous Flight Termination System) hardware and software.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
  • 2+ years experience working in an engineering role.
  • Experience with numerical modeling & simulation, probability & statistics, multi-physics, and/or similar fields of analysis.
  • Fundamental knowledge of atmospheric flight, flight dynamics, and/or orbital mechanics.
  • Experience in modeling, simulation and/or control of dynamic systems, particularly rigid bodies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Advanced degree in engineering (Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with ASTOS or similar mission analysis, trajectory optimization, vehicle design and simulation tools.
