Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to inform the annual audit strategy.
- Design and implement the annual audit plan effectively.
- Oversee routine evaluations to ensure compliance with relevant legal standards and internal policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to develop practical solutions to emerging issues.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the audit team.
- Stay informed about federal and state regulations related to auto and home insurance, including compliance requirements and data protection laws.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes that may impact business operations.
- Ensure adherence to the Model Audit Rule, which includes quarterly assessments and annual certifications to regulatory bodies.
- Maintain and update written plans aimed at reducing key person risk on an annual basis.
- Ensure timely resolution of corrective actions identified during audit processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or audit certifications are advantageous.
- Experience in a regulated industry with a strong understanding of financial statements.
- Preferred background in risk management or auditing, with progressively responsible roles.
- Familiarity with auditing standards and practices.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team while managing an independent project portfolio.
- High emotional intelligence, demonstrated through effective listening and relationship-building skills.
- Strong curiosity and the ability to quickly assimilate complex information.
- Proven track record of producing clear and persuasive communications, both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical and research capabilities, coupled with sound judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
