Key Responsibilities of an Assistant Chef:

As an Assistant Chef at SkiBound, you will play a vital role in our kitchen operations, ideally suited for those with experience as a Commis Chef or Chef de Partie. Our guests enjoy a structured menu throughout their stay, featuring a variety of meal options including:

  • Cold buffet breakfasts
  • Buffet-style lunches with diverse selections such as soups, salads, and build-your-own sandwiches
  • A three-course dinner tailored to both younger and adult guests

With a predetermined menu, you will have the chance to efficiently manage food preparation, ensuring smooth service during peak meal times, even with a high volume of guests.

In your role, you will be expected to follow the guidance of senior chefs regarding food preparation, adhere to recipe specifications, and maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. On days when the Head Chef is off, you will collaborate with fellow Assistant Chefs to manage service and assist with a simplified menu. You should also be prepared to support your team with dishwashing duties as necessary.

Your background in culinary arts should reflect a passion for food and a commitment to continuous learning. You will be knowledgeable about health and safety regulations to ensure compliance in the kitchen environment.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Prior experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen as a Commis Chef or Chef de Partie
  • Relevant culinary qualifications, such as NVQ, are advantageous
  • Understanding of HACCP and health and safety standards, including COSHH
  • A genuine enthusiasm for the catering industry
  • A proactive approach to assisting across all kitchen sections
  • High energy levels and a desire to learn
