Clinical Support Nurse Assistant III

POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves performing tasks that assist patients in fulfilling fundamental human needs and daily living activities, delivering essential patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Additionally, the position encompasses advanced Nurse Assistant III responsibilities following training to improve patient care under the guidance of the RN or LPN. The role also includes various clerical support functions and other responsibilities to aid the nursing team in executing daily patient care tasks.
This position supports telemetry functions, as assigned, by monitoring cardiac rhythms through telemetry systems. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining medical documentation, transcribing and expediting physician orders, and functioning as a receptionist. The individual will also assist in ensuring a safe and clean environment.The Clerical Nurse Assistant III is expected to alternate between clerical and clinical duties to meet departmental needs.
Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.## # EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, and successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program is highly preferred.
Nursing students who have completed a semester of clinical practice may be considered. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support is required upon hire or must be obtained during the introductory orientation period, with ongoing clinical competency maintained throughout employment with ECHN in this role.
Passing the ECHN arrhythmia course or challenge exam during the introductory orientation period is mandatory.EXPERIENCE:
Must possess knowledge of medical terminology and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
COMPETENCIES:
Basic computer skills are essential. The ability to read and communicate effectively in English is required.

8.##### Performs additional duties as assigned to enhance the efficient operation of the unit. 9.##### Safely transports patients to other departments and during admissions and discharges as necessary. 10.# Communicates effectively with charge nurses, coworkers, and other healthcare team members.11.# Performs Nurse Assistant III competencies, including removal of saline locks, foley catheter removal, pulse oximetry, emptying Jackson-Pratt drains, hanging continuous bladder irrigation bags without medication, telemetry application, disconnecting/reconnecting Salem sump, glucose meter usage, and measuring and recording nasogastric drainage independently in the clinical setting after completing classroom education and obtaining written verification of competence.
12.# Greets and directs all patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members, providing accurate and relevant information.13.# Prepares medical records for new admissions and discharged patients, maintaining accurate documentation throughout the patient's stay.
14.# Transcribes physician orders promptly, entering them into the computer system, prioritizing orders based on urgency, and notifying the appropriate nursing staff or department.
15.# Responds promptly and appropriately to patient requests, including timely acknowledgment of patient call bells.16.# Demonstrates the ability to adapt to different patient care units and function effectively in various situations. 17.# Answers telephones/intercoms politely and communicates information to the appropriate personnel or family members in a timely manner.
18.# Orders supplies, processes work orders, enters charges, and performs other coordinating activities to maintain unit operations while keeping departmental records.
19.# As delegated, assists in making phone calls regarding staffing issues as determined by unit needs, as directed by the Nurse Manager/Supervisor or Clinical Charge Designee. 20.# Maintains accurate patient information on the unit whiteboard.
21.# Accurately enters weekly schedules (both electronic and paper), updating them as changes occur, and develops interventions to address identified issues.
22.# When supporting telemetry functions, must demonstrate competency in interpreting dysrhythmias, running and posting rhythm strips at specified intervals, communicating dysrhythmia information to the appropriate nurse promptly, and maintaining logs related to telemetry.
