Manufacturing Technician II

Compass Technology Group is a woman and veteran owned small business focused on developing innovative electromagnetic measurement devices. We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Technician to join our Production team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of various machinist jobs and be able to recognize safety concerns quickly. This role will work within the Production team to understand scope and timeline for projects, cut and produce precision parts, and create physical prototypes from CAD and/or shop drawings using shop tools and advanced equipment like the CNC, 3D printer, and CAM machines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and physical structures
- Approach daily work with continuous improvement in mind, working to develop and improve production department practices to reduce cycle time, improve machine availability, and efficiency, and lower operating costs
- Set up and use machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill press, and milling machine to repair or fabricate parts as needed
- Troubleshoot CNC issues, repair failures of production and facility equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness
- Complete assigned work orders
- Operate material handling equipment safely
- Enter information in systems to document work order status and completion
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the CTG Quality Management System
- Fabricate and assemble prototypes in a low volume, high mix environment
- Set up and cleaning of machines at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order
- Ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output
- Perform, when necessary, all quality checks required to ensure equipment is operating within specifications and established compliance control limits
- Read SOLIDWORKS drawings (highly desired)
- Knowledge of General Dimensioning and Tolerances
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or AA degree
- 2-5 years work experience in relevant field
- CAM Programming experience
- 1-2 years 3D printing
- Skilled working with hands
- Attention to detail and timeline sensibility, safety awareness
- Comfortable working within a team
- 2-3 years mill or lathe machining
- Manufacturing focused rather than design focused
- Composite manufacturing experience is a plus
- Machinist B experience is a plus
- Must be a U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder (government contractor requirements)
