Emergency Room Registered Nurse Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our team at Saint John Hospital, Inc. in Leavenworth, Kansas. As a key member of our emergency department, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients upon arrival and prioritize care accordingly, following standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention.
  • Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries, including administering medications, performing procedures, and managing pain.
  • Assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions in cases of severe illness or trauma, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care.
  • Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively, remaining calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously.
  • Communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Stay up-to-date with Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
  • Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
Qualifications:
  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire required.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
