Job Summary

The role of the RN Supervisor is to support the Dena'ina Wellness Center by providing leadership, supervision, training and assistance to the Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) and Nurse Case Managers. The RN Supervisor works closely with healthcare providers to ensure that they are fully supported. The RN Supervisor will also support triage, physical examination, and medical interventions. The RN Supervisor is responsible for ensuring competency of their staff. The RN Supervisor serves as back up Immunization Coordinator.

Essential Functions

* Provides leadership for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) and Nurse Case Managers
* Ensures annually updated competencies to be kept on file for all supervised employees
* Advocates and supports integrated care and support process improvement throughout Dena'ina Wellness Center
* As back-up Immunization Coordinator, works with Immunization Coordinator to ensure adherence to Federal and State mandated guidelines for vaccine storage and administration
* Delegates and oversee tasks including all QA duties, CPR classes, VacTrak, supply management (including procuring, expiration management), oxygen tanks, and sterilization duties
* Assigns direct provider support schedule, immunization schedule, lunch schedule, and cross cover duties with CMAs and Nurse Case Managers to ensure patient flow and proper care
* Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, or an Associate's Degree in Nursing with supervisory experience

Experience

* Five (5) years nursing experience
* Three (3) years of supervisory experience

License/Certification

* Registered Nurse in the state of Alaska
* Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
* Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy

Special Skills

* Experience with electronic health records
* Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
* Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others

Preferred

* Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
