We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team at Akeso Columbia Oral Surgery Center.
As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our doctors' work and assisting in surgical procedures. You will apply assisting techniques and principles under the direction of an oral surgeon, and you will deal with a diverse set of patients offering them care and encouragement.
Key Responsibilities:- Operating X-ray and 3D scanning equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and bio-hazard protocols.
- Assisting the surgeon with all chair-side procedures including operatory setup, anesthesia administration, and cleanup.
- Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring vital signs during procedures.
- Monitoring our stock of surgical supplies and medication and replenishing these, as needed.
- Ensuring that instruments and equipment are effectively maintained.
- Providing excellent patient care at all times.
- Proven work experience as a dental assistant or oral surgery assistant.
- Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task.
- Caring and compassionate.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Current X-ray license for the state of Maryland.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Dental/Oral surgery assisting experience.
- Occasional travel to our Nottingham, Catonsville, and/or Lutherville locations may be required.
