Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Med Tech II

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Med Tech II to join our team at North Oaks Medical Center. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis.
Key Responsibilities- Proficiently perform laboratory tests and procedures in assigned work sections, including blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize work to accomplish maximum quantity and quality of work assignments.
- Monitor testing analyzers for optimum performance and perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Perform and evaluate quality control and record results, troubleshooting quality control problems as needed.
- Record and report test results, maintaining all required records, reports, and statistical logs and files.
- Identify, verify, and report critical results per established laboratory/hospital policy.
- Report any unusual laboratory findings or problems using established departmental and organizational quality and safety avenues.
- Monitor and maintain adequate supplies and reagents associated with assigned duties.
- Maintain appropriate working knowledge of hospital/department computer software and other digital systems.
- Attend and participate in meetings as necessary, representing the department at conferences and working committees as directed.
- Ensure own professional growth and development through literature review, seminars, conferences, and professional affiliations.
- Assist in all aspects of emergency response and may be required to work other shifts, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner, following North Oaks Health System's safety policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science required, with a degree in clinical laboratory science/medical technology preferred.
- Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program required.
- Current license by Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Specialist.
- One year experience as a generalist preferred.
This position requires moderate strength, with occasional pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting. The ability to distinguish and identify color, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range are also required.
