Job Overview:

As a Technical Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for traveling to client locations to diagnose, repair, and install industrial packaging machinery. This role involves collaborating with clients for pre-assessment, ensuring site readiness, monitoring startup processes, and providing training on the operation of the equipment. You will also conduct routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and complete service documentation detailing repairs, warranty work, and maintenance activities. This position entails significant travel, up to 80%, across the U.S. and Canada.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on expertise with Electro-Mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, AC/DC motor control, PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on machinery and related systems.
  • Provide installation support at customer sites, along with pre-installation consultations.
  • Interpret and analyze blueprints, plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare for service or startup.
  • Deliver on-site training to customer personnel, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients through effective communication and service delivery, offering both on-site and remote support.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and other departments to address and resolve complex issues.
  • Prepare and submit detailed service and expense reports to the Field Service & Operations Manager, ensuring timely documentation of all activities.
  • Accurately document, label, and return all defective components resulting from repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance staff and plant operators.
  • Work closely with the Field Service Manager and service coordinator to prioritize site work and meet deadlines.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, fostering a culture of safety on-site and within the manufacturing environment.
  • Safeguard all tools, materials, and equipment, ensuring they are maintained in good working order and calibrated to client specifications.
  • Assist in customer projects related to manufacturing or engineering, including unit refurbishment or replacement.
  • Support the parts department by recommending spare and wear parts to existing and prospective customers.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Be prepared for potential overtime as workload demands, which may include weekdays or weekends.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License and passport for travel purposes.
  • Utilize computers and electronic devices for report creation and data entry as required.
  • Present a clean and professional appearance while interacting with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience is preferred, along with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of education and experience.
