Sterilization Technician Job Description

At Southern Oral and Facial Surgery, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our team. As a Sterilization Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care by processing and sterilizing all instruments for daily use.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and sort used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for decontamination.
  • Manually clean supplies of contaminants and operate decontamination equipment.
  • Prepare and package decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
  • Examine supplies meticulously to ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Routinely test and report any issues or problems with sterilization equipment.
  • Sterilize, prep, wrap, and organize equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver necessary equipment and instruments for procedures.
  • Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory and supplies.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail, vigilance, and meticulous care on the job.
  • Passion for keeping people safe.
  • Good judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle fragile equipment.
  • Technical skills and familiarity with sterilization techniques.
  • Ability to work well in a team or individually.
