Job Description

The Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS (GCAAR) is seeking a highly skilled Communications Manager to lead our strategic communications efforts. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Communications, this role will be an integral part of our team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and social media skills, with experience in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing communications for GCAAR's Government Affairs team, including leading monthly meetings, writing and distributing a legislative e-newsletter, and crafting government affairs content for various channels.
  • Serving as primary staff liaison and overseeing production for GCAAR's Capital Area REALTOR magazine, published four times a year.
  • Writing, formatting, and distributing newsletters, emails, and content for other communications channels.
  • Maintaining the association's social media calendar and accounts, developing and executing social media campaigns as needed.
  • Developing and posting association content to websites, performing regular maintenance on the association website.
  • Working with subject matter experts to keep contract forms updated on the GCAAR website, promoting new and updated forms rollouts several times a year.
  • Creating and updating materials to assist with implementing annual programs and special campaigns.
  • Serving as a backup contact for media inquiries and interviews.
  • Regularly tracking email and website engagement through Google Analytics and other measurement tools.
  • Supervising two staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing.
  • Seven to nine years of related work experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience in management of social media sites, email marketing tools, and website content management systems.
  • Experience with magazine production and a proven ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of quality in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple, time-sensitive projects while meeting deadlines.

Other desired skills include:

  • Self-motivation, organization, and a highly resourceful team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Practical knowledge of current communications and email marketing best practices to drive brand engagement and build traffic across web and social platforms.
  • Knowledge of media relations, government affairs, and/or graphic design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with/hands-on experience writing in Associated Press (AP) style.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
