The Fuels Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) Department Manager is responsible for delivering managerial and technical guidance to support the scientific personnel engaged in fuels PIE and performance evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead departmental activities through subordinate supervisors and staff, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while fostering employee empowerment.
- Oversee a specific function and technical discipline, tracking progress and adjusting strategies to optimize talent utilization and growth.
- Offer direction to your team within the framework of established corporate policies.
- Propose policy modifications and establish procedures that enhance departmental or multi-disciplinary functions through monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Ensure the effective management of significant operational activities, with decisions impacting team dynamics and influencing methodologies.
- Develop financial plans, business strategies, and workforce priorities, ensuring realistic budgetary and performance benchmarks are established and met.
- Coordinate intricate research priorities with other supervisors to meet expected timelines.
- Collaborate with subordinate supervisors, clients, and peers across functions to build effective and cooperative teams.
- Receive objective-driven assignments and allocate resources to achieve timelines and objectives, integrating them into the facility's mission schedule.
- Assist in formulating overall and long-term departmental goals, contributing to the division's strategic objectives.
- Engage with key contacts outside your area of expertise and with external partners.
- Communicate results and recommendations across various departments.
- This position typically reports to a Director, Senior Director, or Senior Leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 6 years, or Doctorate with 4 years of relevant experience.
- The ideal candidate will possess a degree in nuclear science, engineering, or a related field, with knowledge of nuclear fuels, materials, irradiation testing, and post-irradiation examination.
- The candidate must be eligible to obtain an "L" clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
Compensation Information:
- The target salary range for this position is $137,205 - $203,855 annually, with a full pay range of $103,032 - $262,740. Compensation decisions are based on education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
