Accountant Vice President Job Description

A leading global investment management firm in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team as Vice President of Closed-End Fund Accounting.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the monthly closing process for portfolios, including pricing, reconciling portfolio data, and calculating management fees and expenses.
  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage and enhance all aspects of the private deal life cycle, including initial deal funding, ongoing maintenance, and exit.
  • Manage and enhance the accounting and operations of asset transfers between managed funds and SPVs.
  • Oversee cash management for strategy, including resolution of cash breaks.
  • Ensure compliance with key financial reporting controls and document evidentiary matter to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance in researching technical guidance and implementing new accounting pronouncements.
  • Review calculations of fund and client-specific performance.
  • Review consolidated fund information within the strategy.
  • Review and/or assist in preparing ad-hoc requests from client services and the investment team.
  • Manage project delivery and continuous process improvements for key deliverables and projects assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of accounting experience within the financial services industry, preferably in investment management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong knowledge of fund launches, complex structures, and hedged feeders.
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliation and account analysis.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and ability to apply relevant investment company accounting rules.
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to understand and resolve complex problems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Desired Skills:
  • CPA.
  • Experience with Geneva and/or Geneva World Investor, accounting systems, and Markit WSO (notice portal).
