Job Overview

Position Summary

The Childcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment within the classroom, ensuring that children feel appreciated, safe, and engaged. This position is essential for the seamless operation of daily activities, providing essential support to classroom educators by facilitating breaks, covering meetings, assisting with end-of-day cleaning, and offering childcare during evening events.


Key Responsibilities

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT:
The Childcare Support Specialist collaborates closely with Teachers and Managers to guarantee that daily operations within the early childhood program are efficient. Responsibilities include providing breaks for educators, attending meetings as needed, assisting with meal preparations, and maintaining cleanliness at the beginning and end of the day.


ACTIVITY SUPERVISION:
Under the guidance of the Teacher and/or Manager, the Specialist will oversee children's play and learning activities, encouraging participation in both individual and group settings. Observations of children's behavior will be reported back to the Teacher to ensure appropriate support is provided.

CLASSROOM SANITATION:
The Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment. End-of-day tasks include sweeping floors, managing waste disposal, ensuring all lights and appliances are turned off, and securing the classroom.

FACILITY UPKEEP:
Daily responsibilities may encompass conducting health and safety checks of outdoor play areas, assisting with kitchen duties such as meal preparation and cleanup, and organizing shared spaces and materials.

Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Willingness to pursue a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Prior experience with infant and toddler development is preferred.
