Veterinary Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Southern Veterinary Partners. As a key member of our hospital staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery, and minor procedures.
  • Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner.
  • Obtain accurate vitals, medical histories, and note any changes in patient condition to DVM.
  • Care and maintenance of all medical equipment, including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and other essential tools.
  • Provide high-quality client communication on patient updates and questions.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage fast-paced work, stressful situations, and work respectfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
