Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications safely and accurately.
  • Assess patient risk for allergic reactions and follow protocols for escalation of concerns.
  • Evaluate pertinent lab values prior to administering radiopharmaceuticals or other related medications.
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and families using age-appropriate language.
  • Perform ordered exams or therapies in accordance with established imaging protocols.
  • Document deviations from protocol and/or patient-specific issues that may impact image quality.
  • Notify healthcare providers when immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings or patient condition.
Requirements:
  • Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or Registry by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist - Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification.
  • At least one year of experience in nuclear medicine or a related field.
