Job Description

At SM Energy Company, we are seeking a skilled Revenue Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for processing and posting revenue transactions, performing master data set-up, reviewing monthly analytics, and other related revenue processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process contract allocation, valuation, and post revenue transactions.
  • Process prior period adjustments.
  • Perform master data set-up.
  • Perform the reconciliation and analysis of various accounts.
  • Apply developing accounting and/or process knowledge within job responsibilities.
  • Assist with responses to internal/external audit requests.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to processes within functional area.
  • Participate in department or cross-functional projects/initiatives.
  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; model and promote company culture and values.
  • Maintains and fosters a high level of vigilance and awareness for cyber security risks.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study.
  • No relevant work experience required (4+ years in lieu of education). Internship or previous related work experience a plus. Oil and gas accounting experience a plus.
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus; APA, CIA, CFE, CGMA or other relevant professional credentials and certifications a plus.

Working Conditions

Primarily remote with ability to commute to the Denver office on short notice.
