Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations, planning, and management of the classroom environment and the children.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging classroom in accordance with NAEYC standards.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including daily reports, attendance, and incident reports.
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, and academy events as required.
  • Support and supervise children during various activities.
  • Provide guidance to children facing social, academic, or behavioral challenges.
  • Design and implement lesson plans and schedules tailored to the children's needs.
  • Create and prepare educational materials for classroom activities.
  • Assist children during meal times and ensure cleanliness afterward.
  • Ensure all classroom and outdoor equipment is maintained and used correctly.
  • Organize the classroom into distinct interest areas for effective learning.
  • Lead and coordinate the activities of other staff in the classroom.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and maintain developmental records for each child.
  • Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences throughout the year.
  • Manage classroom bulletin boards and family information displays.
  • Adhere to medication schedules for children as required.

Additional Duties:

  • Accept temporary assignments as needed, such as answering phones or assisting with administrative tasks.
  • Help plan and execute academy-wide events.
  • Engage with prospective families and communicate effectively with potential clients.
  • Assist in evaluating classroom personnel.
  • Contribute to the monthly newsletter.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
  • Complete 15 hours of training annually as mandated by DCFS.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet state qualifications for the position.
  • Background check clearance is required for employment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds consistently throughout the workday.
