Veterinary Receptionist

The Veterinary Receptionist is a vital member of our team at Colonial Terrace Animal Hospital, providing exceptional client service and support to our veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members. As the first point of contact for clients, you will be responsible for creating a positive and welcoming experience for our patients and their owners.

• Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
• Answer phones promptly and professionally, handling client inquiries and providing knowledgeable advice on animal care and veterinary services.
• Schedule appointments and surgeries, making sure to follow hospital scheduling guidelines.
• Enter accurate charges and collect payment from clients, explaining invoices and services provided.
• Verify client eligibility for charge accounts and check medical records for accuracy.
• Fill prescriptions refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients.
• Advise clients on flea/tick preventative, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.

• Computer knowledge required, including keyboarding and use of communication tools (email/internet).
• Working knowledge of veterinary terminology, including pronunciation, spelling, and meaning.
• Excellent spelling and grammar skills.
• Ability to handle varied and sometimes difficult situations, including exposure to highly emotional situations.
