Position Overview:

The Certified Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in providing essential support to patients, assisting them with daily living activities and ensuring their safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene and meal preparation.
  • Support the healthcare team in assessing patients' physical and psychological needs.
  • Accurately monitor and document vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Collect necessary specimens for medical testing.
  • Communicate any noticeable changes in patients' conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Provide preventative skin care and perform basic wound care as needed.
  • Ensure constant observation of patients requiring additional security measures.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and emergency situations.
  • Recognize and report unsafe conditions or actions to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist in the safe transportation of patients.
  • Participate in emergency drills and respond appropriately to various emergency situations.
  • Collaborate effectively within the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the nursing supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant Program is mandatory.
  • Certification from the New York State Department of Health and active status in the State Nurse Assistant Registry is required.
  • A minimum of one year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
  • Heart Saver Certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with patients and team members.
