Job Summary:

USA Health is seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to newborn infants in our Level III NICU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical management of newborn infants in Level III NICU, primarily those with emergent, acute, and chronic illness, under the review and/or supervision of a neonatologist or designated M.D.
  • Perform delivery room resuscitation of newborns, including endotracheal intubation, positive pressure ventilation, calculation, and/or administration of resuscitation medication, insertion of peripheral and central vascular lines, placement of needle or tube for evacuation of body spaces (relief), pneumothoraces, pericardial fluid or air, peritoneal fluid or air, or pleural fluid.
  • Manage medical problems of neonates and all common medical problems of pre and post-operative neonates.
  • Manage mechanical ventilation in neonates.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Conduct discharge preparation for neonates.
  • Provide care to normal newborn infants.
  • Administer injections and dispense medication, which may include controlled substances.
  • Participate in clinical research.
  • Serve as a preceptor to clinical nurse practitioner students and residents in neonatal management.
  • Collect data for neonatal population database.
  • Provide parent education.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by USA Health and the University of South Alabama.
  • Completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program.
  • Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  • A current Alabama RN license or current Multi-State RN License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama.
