Job Summary

The City of Belfast seeks a highly skilled Public Works Director to lead its infrastructure management team. This is a full-time position responsible for supervising a crew of equipment operators and workers engaged in public works construction and maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the work of a crew of equipment operators and workers in public works construction and maintenance operations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with municipal officials, peers, subordinates, state and local organizations, and the public
  • Perform supervisory and practical work with general independence under the supervision of the City Manager
  • Develop and implement plans for road construction and maintenance operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices
Requirements
  • Knowledge of road construction materials and methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering road plans
  • Valid and maintained A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Experience in administrative and operational public works
  • Experience as a labor foreman on major road construction and maintenance activities
  • Completion of high school, preferably supplemented by technical training

A competitive salary range of $81,000 to $97,000, a 4-day work week, and a comprehensive benefits package.
