Job Overview

We are seeking a Higher Education Counselor - Academic Success to join our team at the University of North Texas Dallas College of Law. This role will provide mental health counseling to students, ensuring accurate documentation and recordkeeping of case files. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology, and be licensed by the State of Texas or have the ability to obtain appropriate licensure within twenty-four months of employment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health counseling to a diverse population, including individual and group counseling for personal and academic concerns.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping of case files.
  • Present workshops/training/outreach in areas of expertise and make presentations to specific groups that may include students, faculty, and staff.
  • Attend professional development opportunities which increase counselor knowledgebase and which maintain professional licensure.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology or related field.
  • Must be licensed by the State of Texas or have the ability to obtain appropriate licensure within twenty-four months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A PhD or ABD in counseling, psychology or social work is preferred with at least two years of related experience.
  • Two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, psychology, or social work experience.
  • Previous experience in a higher education setting working with students.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State laws relevant to the provision of Counseling Services and the determination of reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000

This salary range is based on national averages for Higher Education Counselors in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, taking into account factors such as job duties, required education and experience, and the cost of living in the area.
