Patient Services Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Services Representative to join our team at EvergreenHealth. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate patient scheduling, including creating and managing appointments, rescheduling, and cancelling appointments as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage patient registration and insurance verification, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is maintained.
- Market the benefits of our patient portal and assist patients with enrollment.
- Manage multi-line telephone system, responding to incoming and outgoing calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify and direct patients with emergent or urgent symptoms to appropriate clinical staff for screening and coordination of care.
- Manage messages and work queues, ensuring prompt and accurate communication with patients and clinical staff.
- Prepare and send letters, portal messages, or phone calls to communicate important information and patient outreach.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in a customer service role or similar administrative position.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the capacity to communicate with a diverse range of individuals and dispositions.
- Ability to problem solve, stay calm under pressure, and present oneself in a pleasant and professional manner when responding to inquiries from EH staff and patients.
- Strong written communication skills, including ability to spell accurately and write legibly.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively within a team environment.
- Actively listen to and validate patient conversations, employing de-escalating techniques as appropriate.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and access, analyze, and apply concepts associated with protocols, policy, and guidelines.
- Keyboarding skills and working knowledge of Windows-based software systems.
- Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative role or experience providing direct clinical patient care.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and common medications.
- Knowledge and experience accessing and verifying insurance coverage, including experience using Real Time Eligibility (RTE) and Payer/Insurance Portals.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably Cerner or Epic.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and other health industry compliance standards.
