Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Services Representative to join our team at EvergreenHealth. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate patient scheduling, including creating and managing appointments, rescheduling, and cancelling appointments as needed.
  2. Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Manage patient registration and insurance verification, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is maintained.
  4. Market the benefits of our patient portal and assist patients with enrollment.
  5. Manage multi-line telephone system, responding to incoming and outgoing calls in a timely and professional manner.
  6. Identify and direct patients with emergent or urgent symptoms to appropriate clinical staff for screening and coordination of care.
  7. Manage messages and work queues, ensuring prompt and accurate communication with patients and clinical staff.
  8. Prepare and send letters, portal messages, or phone calls to communicate important information and patient outreach.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service role or similar administrative position.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the capacity to communicate with a diverse range of individuals and dispositions.
  • Ability to problem solve, stay calm under pressure, and present oneself in a pleasant and professional manner when responding to inquiries from EH staff and patients.
  • Strong written communication skills, including ability to spell accurately and write legibly.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively within a team environment.
  • Actively listen to and validate patient conversations, employing de-escalating techniques as appropriate.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and access, analyze, and apply concepts associated with protocols, policy, and guidelines.
  • Keyboarding skills and working knowledge of Windows-based software systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative role or experience providing direct clinical patient care.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and common medications.
  • Knowledge and experience accessing and verifying insurance coverage, including experience using Real Time Eligibility (RTE) and Payer/Insurance Portals.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably Cerner or Epic.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and other health industry compliance standards.
