Job Overview:
The Banking Services Operations Associate III plays a crucial role in managing lien filing documentation across various state Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMVs). This position involves conducting thorough research on loans with incomplete or unsuccessful lien filings, making outbound calls to customers, dealers, and state DMVs to address lien filing challenges, and fulfilling customer requests for collateral maintenance activities such as name changes and registration permissions in new states.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process direct lien filing transactions, ensuring completion of necessary DMV documents.
- Collaborate with customers and branches to resolve related issues efficiently.
- Conduct research on outstanding title and lien perfection, including communication with dealers, DMVs, and customers, while addressing online inquiries.
- Handle all requests for consumer title and collateral maintenance, ensuring compliance with state-specific documentation requirements.
- Execute lien release transactions upon loan satisfaction or total loss.
- Research and fulfill titling requests from internal business partners.
- Provide phone support to branches regarding vehicle titling during the closing process.
- Manage check processing, including data input, reconciliation, and daily general ledger accuracy.
- Adhere to the company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls, identifying risk-related issues for escalation to management.
- Foster an inclusive environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain internal control standards, implementing audit points and addressing issues raised by external regulators as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Non-Real Estate Collateral Management team is responsible for perfecting, maintaining, and releasing collateral for automobile, boat, and recreational vehicle (RV) loans. This includes placing liens on titles, processing name change requests, reviewing requests for collateral registration in new states, and ensuring that loans are fully paid off before releasing liens.
Education and Experience Required:
Associate's degree or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 2 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience.

A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
M&T Bank is committed to fair and competitive compensation for employees. The pay range for this position is $28.11 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate's specific combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will determine their compensation.
