About the Role

Zurich is seeking a highly skilled RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. As a leading crop insurance provider in the U.S., RCIS offers insurance protection in all 50 states through a national network of about 3,600 licensed agents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of agricultural practices and be able to effectively communicate with farmers and ranchers. This role requires minimal supervision and involves completing field inspections, reading maps and aerial photos, measuring fields, and discussing findings of crop loss with farmers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections and related responsibilities, including reading maps and aerial photos, measuring fields, and discussing findings of crop loss with farmers.
  • Ability to convey complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry people on claim situations.
  • Perform fact finding regarding crop damage, record information, and transmit loss information to accurately determine potential indemnities.
  • Gather relevant facts, utilizing applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence.
  • Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned.
  • Ensure legal compliance by maintaining a strong working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area.
  • Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire date.
  • Reliable personal transportation and travel within territory.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • RCIS Crop Adjuster Physical Requirements: walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles, climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs., work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Experience as a Crop Claims Field Adjuster.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
