Registered Nurse RN Inpatient Oncology Medical Surgical Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse RN to deliver exceptional patient care in our inpatient oncology medical surgical unit. As a member of our team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients from the first day they learn of their cancer diagnosis through every stage of treatment.
Responsibilities- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Work closely with oncology-certified nurses and cancer experts to create and implement a care plan to meet each patient's needs.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
- 1 year of nursing experience required.
- 1 year of oncology medical surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
- Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
