Position Overview
The Credentialed Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in delivering outstanding care to our patients. These skilled professionals are essential partners to our veterinarians, ensuring that every client interaction and medical procedure is executed with precision and care. Credentialed Technicians utilize their expertise in anesthesia, surgical assistance, dental care, laboratory diagnostics, patient management, and client education. Key Competencies for Credentialed Technicians
  • Empathy & Patience: Maintaining professionalism while ensuring comfort for clients and patients, especially in challenging situations. Responding effectively to emergencies while upholding a high standard of care.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with veterinarians and team members, providing timely feedback and being receptive to suggestions for improvement.
  • Effective Communication: Clearly conveying instructions to clients and colleagues to facilitate optimal patient care.
  • Active Listening: Attentively following the guidance of veterinarians and understanding the needs of both patients and team members.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently managing lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, and workflows while attending to multiple clients and animals.
  • Client Satisfaction: Striving to ensure that every interaction results in the highest level of client contentment.
Core Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery, along with various other tasks as required.
  • Assist in outpatient examinations by gathering patient histories, vital signs, and weights, while providing educational support to clients.
  • Prepare animals for surgical procedures and monitor their vital signs throughout the process.
  • Collect blood, stool, and other samples; conduct in-house laboratory tests and prepare specimens for external analysis.
  • Take and process radiographs while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restraint during examinations.
  • Administer and oversee medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratories; restock supplies as needed.
  • Exhibit warmth, professionalism, and courtesy in all client interactions; show compassion and care towards all patients.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and team members regarding client discussions, patient plans, and concerns.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Valid state license to practice as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician.
  • Capability to lift patients and carry equipment weighing up to 25 pounds; ability to lift heavier items with assistance.
  • Adherence to OSHA safety protocols, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Fundamental math skills for calculating medication dosages.
  • Strong communication abilities to ensure patient safety and effective teamwork.
