Job Description

Overview:

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) plays a vital role in supporting the Navy through research, development, testing, evaluation, analysis, systems engineering, integration, and certification of intricate naval warfare systems. Ongoing support for professional and operational services is essential as NSWCDD continues to deliver testing and certification services.

Job Summary:

Provide financial oversight and support for daily operations at NSWCDD.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience, including at least two (2) years in one or more of the following areas:
  • financial auditing
  • accounting practices
  • financial analysis
  • government travel policy and administration
  • civilian payroll and leave policy management
  • evaluating program compliance with Financial Management Regulations (FMR)
  • financial and accounting transactions
  • program cost analysis

Essential Duties:

  • Reconcile commitments and obligations to validate accounting transactions by collaborating with various departments, Contracts, Accounting, and Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).
  • Reconcile expenses, accruals, and accounts payable to support the validation of accounting transactions through collaboration with departments, Contracts, Accounting, and DFAS.
  • Conduct research and analysis of detailed transactions and reports to correct erroneous charges, including complex calculations for high-visibility tasks.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to ensure compliance with Department of Navy (DoN), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), and local directives.
  • Maintain organized files and manage documentation related to all Accounting programs.
  • Collaborate with DFAS to review validation requests for "Invoice Pre-Validation" and report findings to the Government accounting official.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to apply current DoD and Navy financial and administrative directives to Navy programs.
