POSITION SUMMARY:


As an Emergency Medical Technician, your primary goal is to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care utilizing both basic and advanced medical techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate each emergency situation to determine the most effective response while adhering to established EMT protocols.

Employ your EMT skills with medical equipment and procedures including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen delivery systems, and intravenous fluids to administer advanced medical care.

Engage with patients and their families to provide reassurance and information regarding the care being provided.

Assume the role of team leader when necessary, managing the scene and unit effectively.

Collaborate professionally with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as fellow EMTs.

Develop and apply triage skills to ensure optimal efficiency during emergency calls.
Deliver patient care in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards.
Assist in lifting and transporting patients as needed to ensure optimal care.
Communicate with receiving facilities to obtain medical direction and relay critical information.
Drive the ambulance and utilize navigation skills to minimize response times.
Maintain all required EMT certifications continuously.
Coordinate with dispatch to receive and comprehend call data and feedback from customers.

Oversee the general condition of the unit, ensuring it is clean and adequately stocked for efficient response, upholding the image of our organization.

Document all activities related to patient care and billing accurately to ensure comprehensive information is available for each call.
Adhere to policies and procedures regarding response times and turnaround times.
Consider patient conditions and insurance preferences when determining transport destinations.
Be prepared to work beyond scheduled shifts with little or no notice.
Work collaboratively and professionally with all allied health and public safety personnel.
Report any incidents involving negative interactions with customers or patients immediately to the on-duty supervisor or account manager.
Navigate using maps, operate vehicles, and accurately interpret street signs and addresses.
Read medication labels and instructions swiftly and accurately.
Communicate effectively with patients and significant others in various environments to gather information from patients, family members, and bystanders.
Recognize changes in patient conditions based on visual cues and treatment responses.
Engage with dispatch and EMS providers via phone or radio regarding patient status.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Adhere to information systems security policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

Participate in community outreach programs to enhance our organization's image and foster strong community relations.

Regularly meet and communicate with existing clients and staff members (including skilled nursing, assisted living, and hospital facilities) to ensure that we are meeting their needs.

Report these interactions to the operations and/or account manager regularly.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
National Registry EMT Certification.
Montana State EMT License within 60 days of hire.
Possess a valid State Driver's License.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP certifications.
Driving record in compliance with safety policies.

Experience:
Previous experience in healthcare is preferred.
