Emergency Medical Technician Training Program

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The selected individual will be employed as a Student/VST and will participate in the forthcoming accredited Emergency Medical Technician Program.
There are no fees associated with the course, and all necessary materials, including textbooks, supplies, uniforms, and examination costs, will be covered by AMR. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates must secure National Registry Certification and MT State certification.
POST-COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
All participants will be obligated to commit to a full-time position with AMR - Billings for a minimum duration of one year.
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary duty of the selected candidate will be to successfully complete the EMT program and achieve both National Registry Certification and MT State licensure as an EMT. When not attending classes, they will operate as a Vehicle Service Technician (VST).
The VST role is non-mechanical and focuses on ensuring that all ambulances are 'response ready' for field teams arriving for their shift assignments, aiming to minimize downtime and enhance the quality and delivery of services to both crews and patients. The expected outcome is a thoroughly cleaned vehicle, both inside and out, with well-stocked supplies and operational equipment. Maintaining the highest standards for the delivered product is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct inventory checks and manage supplies and equipment.
- Perform daily cleaning of ambulances and other field vehicles, both inside and outside.
- Restock ambulance supplies on a daily basis.
- Ensure proper maintenance of monitor batteries as required.
- Check and replenish oil and windshield washer fluid daily.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Request replacement supplies as needed.
- Notify Supervisor and Fleet Maintenance of any breakdowns and causes of equipment failure for repair/reallocation of ambulances to crews, while keeping accurate logs.
- Document the condition of ambulances at the end of shifts and prepare them for the next personnel.
- Update 'crew in service' information on the computer for equipment tracking.
- Respond to daily inquiries from crews to facilitate coordination between departments.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner in accordance with the Company's 'Standards of Conduct' policy.
- Arrive for duty appropriately groomed and in the designated work attire/uniform.
- Complete all required training assigned by the Company.
- Attend classes punctually and stay current with assignments.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures regarding information security.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Valid State Driver's License is necessary.
- Driving record must comply with company policy.
- Previous work experience, preferably in healthcare, is preferred.
- Must enroll in an approved EMT Program.
- All required immunizations must be completed.
- Successfully pass pre-employment screenings, including motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing, and a Physical Ability Test.
Working Conditions: The role may involve fatigue, repetitive tasks, and a high-pressure environment. Work may be conducted alone or in teams, and could occur in confined spaces. There may be exposure to noise or other hazardous conditions associated with emergency medical treatment.
Physical Demands: The position requires abilities such as smelling, reading, kneeling, bending, hearing, clear speech, and lifting up to 70 lbs. It also involves driving an ambulance, walking in various weather conditions, and performing visual inspections.
Mental Requirements: Critical thinking skills are essential, with the ability to analyze and make decisions. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are necessary, along with problem-solving and reasoning capabilities.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
While functioning as a VST, this position reports to the Operations Field Supervisor. In the classroom setting, this position reports to the Clinical Education Specialist.
