Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

Job Summary

The USDA Agricultural Research Department is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join their team. As a key member of the facilities maintenance team, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and providing maintenance and repair of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC and electrical systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on building interior and exterior
  • Manage and maintain government vehicle fleet
  • Assist with snow removal and other seasonal tasks

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance and repair
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The position requires the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures.
