Description

This role involves assisting in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment utilized by the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts repairs and overhauls on truck braking systems and clutches.
  • Diagnoses and repairs hydraulic and electrical systems on heavy machinery and diesel vehicles.
  • Performs repairs on transmissions and engines.
  • Utilizes testing equipment to troubleshoot and execute repairs.
  • Replaces water and fuel pumps as necessary.
  • Handles on-site repairs for malfunctioning road equipment and vehicles.
  • Operates various road equipment and vehicles for testing purposes.
  • Keeps detailed records of all repair work performed.
  • Services gas-powered tools such as weed eaters and chainsaws.
  • Responsible for the repair of all vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of experience with hand and power tools.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in maintaining tools and equipment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in general fleet maintenance.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal Background check.
  • Must successfully pass a driver's license background check.
  • Must hold a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass alcohol and drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Physical demands include requirements for physical exertion and coordination of body movements.
  • Potential hazards may arise from job conditions that could lead to injury or health risks despite precautions.
  • Work is typically performed in a seated position or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee may occasionally lift light and heavy objects.
  • Work is generally conducted in a service center and may involve exposure to cold or inclement weather. The employee may encounter noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery, and chemicals. Protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves are required.
  • Emergency Preparedness Tier Level: 3.
