Housing Technician I

Community Action Partnership of Dickinson is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Housing Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our Housing Program, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality housing services to our clients.
Job Summary:
The Housing Technician I will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Housing Program, including work specifications, cost estimates, and inspections. You will maintain client files, report on project progress, and schedule projects. You will also carry out the program mission and agency mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Housing Program's strategic plan.
- Conduct inspections of residential structures to determine necessary improvements.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for work on residential structures and competitive bidding.
- Complete final inspections for compliance with workmanship standards, specifications, codes, property rehabilitation standards, and contract conditions.
- Provide technical assistance to property owners and contractors on all phases of construction.
- Assist with required reports and audits.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Two years of work experience in construction or housing inspection.
- Experience in residential construction, design, trades, building materials, building codes, and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Ability to establish a positive rapport with staff, clients, other agencies, businesses, and the community.
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral forms.
- Proficient with computers and software, including Windows, Internet, Microsoft Office software, and other office equipment.
Work Environment:
The Housing Technician I will work in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors, in controlled and uncontrolled environments, and in weather extremes. The position requires high stress tolerance and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
