Job Summary

The Lemoine Company is seeking a skilled Rigger to join our team in the Baton Rouge area. As a Rigger, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of heavy equipment and materials on our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Lift Preparation: Position materials prior to lift and determine the weight of the object to ensure accurate calculations.
  • Rigging Selection: Choose the appropriate rigging equipment, such as cables, straps, or chains, and verify that they are in good working condition.
  • Equipment Setup: Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
  • Load Attachment: Secure loads with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to the crane hook.
  • Hoisting Operations: Provide clear directions to crane operators or hoisting engineers to ensure the safe movement of loads and equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and inspect all rigging equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety and project rules, and report any hazards or concerns to supervisors.
Requirements
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Certifications: NCCER certification and completion of a Rigging course at a technical, trade school, or seminar, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Mathematical Skills: Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
Physical Demands
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work up to 200 feet and in varying hot and cold environments.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, and crawl to perform tasks.
  • Exposure to Elements: Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions and exposure to dust, dirt, and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases.
