Diesel Service Technician

Gibbs Truck Centers - Bakersfield is seeking a skilled Diesel Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for performing diagnoses and repairs on all areas of trucks. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring that our customers' vehicles are running smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
- Read job orders, observe, and listen to vehicles in operation to resolve malfunctions and plan work procedures.
- Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined and properly maintained.
- Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly and are safe for operation.
- Tag all warranty parts and returns to the warranty clerk, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed.
- Attend training classes and stay up-to-date on factory technical bulletins to ensure that our team has the latest knowledge and skills.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction.
- Properly complete all work assigned by the supervisor, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards.
- Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
- Participate in and utilize technical training as assigned by management, ensuring that our team has the latest knowledge and skills.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- Ensure that guest vehicles are returned in the same condition as they were prior to being serviced.
- Show the utmost courtesy to all guests, visitors, and dealership personnel, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service.
- Make every effort to achieve production objectives set by management, ensuring that our team meets or exceeds our goals.
- Adhere to manufacturer's policies and procedures as they relate to labor operations, time, and repair order documentation when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Fleet and/or Dealership experience.
- Diesel experience and/or knowledge a plus.
- High School Diploma and/or GED Equivalent Required.
- ASE Certification preferred.
- CDL Certification preferred.
- Teammate with a strong sense of dedication to the customer and service team.
- Self-Motivated & Professional.
- Possess own tools.
