Surgical Technologist PRN Day

The Surgical Technologist PRN Day position plays a vital role in the interoperative phase of patient care, expediting surgical procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
This role helps the surgical team by utilizing equipment and instrumentation to ensure a safe operating room environment and availability of required equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Set up the operating room according to surgical procedure schedules, arranging sterile setup of instrument tables, supplies, and equipment required for specific procedures.
- Ensure the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during surgical procedures.
- Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and shaving, and clean the operating room following each case, returning equipment to appropriate storage areas.
- Maintain inventory of clean and sterilized surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies under established policies and procedures and regulatory standards.
- Document equipment use and cart supplies, and maintain applicable records and files.
- Follow infection control policies, Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) recommendation practices, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, and other regulatory requirements to ensure a safe work environment for self, coworkers, and patients.
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Less than 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT, or equivalent certification.
