We are seeking a highly qualified Lecturer to join our Education Studies Department at the University of California, San Diego. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in our professional preparation programs, which include elementary, secondary, and Deaf education.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses in our graduate level professional preparation programs, including MEd/Multiple Subjects Credential, MEd/Single Subjects Credential, and MA in American Sign Language - English Bilingual Education.
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the University's academic standards and policies.
- Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
- Hold office hours, assign grades, and advise students.
- Participate in program events, trainings, and meetings.
- Assist with student teacher field placements and communicate with cooperating teachers.
- Conduct classroom observations and complete candidate evaluations.
- Master's degree or at least 6 years of P-12 classroom teaching experience.
- Valid California Professional Clear Teaching Credential authorizing English learner instruction.
- At least 2 years of experience mentoring and/or supporting student teachers, intern teachers, and/or apprentice teachers.
- At least 6 years of experience working with (or in) San Diego County Schools.
- At least 2 years of experience following the most current, adopted California P-12 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems.
- At least 1 year of teacher leadership experience at the school, district, or county levels.
- At least 6 years of strong and demonstrated commitment to furthering equity, diversity, and the improvement of public education.
- California teaching credential(s) in an additional content area or in Special Education, Bilingual Authorization, and/or bilingual skills.
- At least 1 quarter/semester of experience teaching at the postsecondary level.
- At least 1 year of experience recruiting and preparing teachers.
- Expertise in education technology.
