Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Social Worker is a vital member of an interdisciplinary team who provides direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment intervention, and psycho-education to members and/or family members. This role requires a deep understanding of psychopathology and the ability to recognize timely clinical treatment interventions. The Psychiatric Social Worker may work with specific age groups, as determined by training and certification. They must be familiar with various treatment modalities and spend the majority of their time in direct patient care.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Timely and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
  • Selection of treatment modalities to address members' presenting problems.
  • Effective communication of clinical material to members and clinical staff.
  • High internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Expertise in various treatment methodologies.
  • Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
  • Knowledge of KP and community resources.
  • Adherence to mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
  • Maintenance of licensure.
  • Conducting initial interviews with members, eliciting and interpreting the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
  • Determining the urgency of members' needs.
  • Providing professional interpretations of members' presentations and recommending courses of therapeutic action.
  • Selection of appropriate treatment modalities.
  • Rendering immediate guidance and therapy for members in crisis or in need of clinical services.
  • Maintenance of written records of therapy, preparation of reports and letters, and communication with social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years required.
  • Education: Masters degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health required.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California).
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature required.
  • Consistent demonstration of knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, members, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • EMDR, DBT, trauma, LGBTQIA+, gender, Eating Disorders, couples/family, 0-5, children experience preferred.
Notes:
  • May travel for coverage and training; late nights with last patient at 6 or later, Saturdays.
