Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans, including circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
  • System Design Calculations: Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and other calculations required to support electrical design.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare electrical construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings in various market sectors.
  • Conflict Resolution: Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and other design team members to ensure design consistency and meet project schedules.
  • Equipment Selection: Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
  • Sustainable Design: Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Reporting and Specification: Prepare reports and specifications for electrical systems.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
  • Client Communication: Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues.
Qualifications and Education:
  • A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional building projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Previous Healthcare experience highly desirable.
  • Previous electrical design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code and the International Building Codes.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
  • Strong initiative and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas in an accessible way.

The salary range for this position is between $105,000- $120,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary based on several factors, including relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location, and other business and organizational needs.
