Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to our expanding Powell Automation Division (PAD). Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain expertise in PAD's products and services.
  • Analyze and interpret client requirements to create project Functional Design, schematics, and testing documentation in line with project specifications and Powell's standard practices.
  • Develop relay configuration files utilizing various manufacturers, including SEL, GE, Siemens, and Beckwith.
  • Design and set up SCADA systems with tools such as WonderWare InTouch, Allen Bradley Factory Talk, Copa-Data Zenon, Siemens WinCC, and/or SEL RTAC AcSELerator Diagram Builder.
  • Employ common industrial communication protocols like Modbus (RTU and TCP/IP), IEC61850, DNP 3.0, etc.
  • Create PLC-based electrical system monitoring and control solutions.
  • Engage in and document factory and on-site acceptance testing (FAT and SAT), and perform start-up and commissioning activities as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Health, Safety & Environmental policies across all Site Services.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders, including after-sales assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably Electrical Engineering, from an accredited institution with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in at least one of the following areas:
    • Automation and Control systems
    • Protective Relay programming and commissioning
    • PLC applications for Switchgear
  • Experience in developing, integrating, installing, and commissioning industrial control systems using PLC and HMI solutions.
  • Familiarity with PLC logic programming and HMI programming. Experience with Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, and ABB software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of common industrial protocols such as Modbus (RTU and TCP/IP), IEC61850, DNP3, Profibus, etc.
  • Understanding of three-phase power systems is essential.
  • Experience in configuring, testing, and commissioning relays, with familiarity in SEL, GE, and Siemens microprocessor relays being a plus.

  • Exceptional customer relations, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently, adaptable to change, self-motivated, innovative, and committed to making a positive impact.
  • Capability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Willingness to travel locally at least 25% of the time.
